One of my forefathers was William (Fighting Billy) Tipton, a veteran of the War of 1812 and who fought with Andrew Jackson. In the early 1800's he owned Cades Cove, a pioneer community which is now a part of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. So my roots run deep in this area.

I served on the Blount County Commission for 12 years and have years of service on numerous boards, including chairman of the Greater Knoxville Better Business Bureau; therefore, I am well informed and knowledgeable of the workings and happenings in Blount County.
